A Booming Consumer Market

By 2025 one billion people will enter the global consuming class and around 600 million of them will live in emerging markets on Oman’s doorstep. Companies that understand and respond to these shifting dynamics will experience tremendous benefits. Indeed, Oman is strategically placed and has the business base, track record, infrastructure, experience, talent, leadership and global connectivity to help any business take its export ambitions forward.

Export Initiatives

To help current and future Omani exporters achieve their commercial goals, we organize a series of domestic and international activities that range from workshops; seminars; B2B matchmaking sessions; Exporter Working Group; trade missions; international exhibitions; market studies; hosting international buyers and providing up-to-date trade information. Indeed, all these services are provided free-of-charge.

Our Trade Up Seminars are designed to help Omani businesses that are new to international trade take the plunge, as well as assist those already trading overseas to increase sales. The Trade Up Seminars tap into the experiences of seasoned Omani exporters to give businesses ideas and advice on how to avoid the main pitfalls and build a successful book of export business.
In co-operation with other agencies and professionals, the seminar program helps exporters with services and advice on topics that include:

  • Basics of the commercial transaction
  • Market research and finding overseas markets
  • Trade financing
  • Documentation
  • Logistics
  • Packaging
  • Design
  • Marketing
  • One-on-one buyer meetings

International Representatives

On the international front, we have representatives in 25 key global markets – all actively involved in promoting Oman-made products and services.

Manufacturing Visits

We work very closely with domestic exporters and run an annual visit program to Omani manufacturers, this helps us identify any export problems or obstacles encountered by our business community. The field visits also provide our team with an opportunity to brief Omani exporters on Ithraa-led activities and services.

International Buyers

We have identified international importers of Omani products and on a regular basis invite them to visit the Sultanate. In this regard, we organize regular B2B matchmaking meetings which link Omani exporters with international buyers.

Export Intelligence

We pay particular attention to sector studies in marketing and promotion. These play a key role and contribute to increasing Omani exports. Recent studies include:

  • Strategy for the Development of Non-oil Omani Origin Exports
  • Product Market Studies for Yemen; Kenya; Tanzania; Zanzibar; Iran; Syria; Sudan; Libya; India; Ethiopia; and Singapore.
