As Oman continues its rapid industrialization and urbanization its power sector is expected to attract US$7bn in new investments in the near to medium-term. The figure includes US$6bn in new power generation and water desalination capacity, while the remainder will be earmarked for the expansion of power transmission and distribution networks.

Oman has a reputation as a trendsetter in the region’s power and water sector, having pioneered the deregulation and liberalization of the industry to make it attractive for international developers to invest in this strategically vital sector.
